Carson Pirie Scott's Fall Trendevous

September 19, 2009– Carson Pirie Scott’s Yorktown store welcomed 200 guests to revel in fall fashion. Guests enjoyed breakfast treats and a coffee bar. The runway presentation was hosted by Chicago magazine’s Stacy Wallace-Albert. After the show, guests indulged in private shopping with international designer Victor Alfaro, who debuted his fall collection.

Wood-Mode Color Event

September 16, 2009– Chicago Home + Garden partnered with the Benjamin Moore showroom to host the Wood-Mode Color Presentation in the Merchandise Mart. Editor of Chicago Home + Garden, Jan Parr, introduced John Troxell Wood-Mode Fine Custom Cabinetry’s design director, who discussed color as it interacts with design. The event showcased the evolution of cabinetry finishes and style, along with insight on color trends for 2010.

Kitchen Walk Kick Off Event

August 13th — Designs for Dignity held their first Kick Off event for the 2009 Kitchen Walk hosted by Artemide. More than 350 attendees sipped on cocktails from Grey Goose and Martini & Rossi. Catering was provided by Piccolo Sogno and great raffle prizes were coveted by the party goers. Celebrity raffle puller Jan Parr was on hand to dole out fabulous prizes to the winners. The event raised nearly $6,000 for Designs for Dignity. The Kitchen Walk event will be held on Saturday, October 17th in Michigan’s beautiful Harbor Country. PAWS Chicago 7th Annual Beach Party

July 23, 2009–PAWS Chicago, the city’s largest No Kill, human organization hosted the 7th Annual Beach Party on Thursday, July 23 at Castaways Boathouse at North Avenue Beach. This year’s event had more than 400 people and dogs in attendance, making it one of Chicago’s largest pet-friendly social gatherings. Presented by Escada and featuring The Underwater People, the Beach Party raised more than $160,000 to support PAWS Chicago’s efforts to build a No Kill city.

“Hot Style in the City” with Community Home Supply

July 23, 2009 – Chicago Home + Garden and Community Home Supply hosted an evening of great tips from the pros on kitchen and baths. More than 100 attendees enjoyed wine and artisanal cheeses from Sun + Moon Catering while Jan Parr, editor of Chicago Home + Garden and Claudia Skylar, Design Principal of Mastro & Skylar Architects gave presentations on making your home look like a million without breaking the bank.

Summer Lovin' 2009

June 19, 2009—Chicago magazine and the Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital celebrated Chicago magazine’s 20 most eligible singles in Chicago with the 9th annual Summer Lovin’ event. Over 1,000 guests gathered to enjoy an evening full of fun and flirting complete with tasty hors d’oeuvres from 13 of the city’s hottest restaurants, an array of signature cocktails, a silent auction, a raffle, a photo booth, dancing, and much more. All proceeds from the 2009 event benefited the research and treatment of brain tumors at the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute.

A Decade of Dignity: The 10th Anniversary Spirit Awards

May 14, 2009 — A Decade of Dignity: The 10th Anniversary Spirit Awards was held Thursday, May 14th at the Chicago History Museum. More than 400 attendees enjoyed a fabulous auction, cocktails by Grey Goose Vodka and honored The Kohler Company, Aimee Nemeckay and InterfaceFLOR for their commitment to Designs for Dignity. Over $100,000 was raised for Designs for Dignity which provides pro bono design services to area nonprofits in Chicago and Southwest Michigan.
