Get ready for Chickenjoy, Yum Burgers, and Jolly Spaghetti, North Shore. Beloved Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee (3534 W. Touhy Ave., 847-674-3900) has landed in Skokie.

The Loyalist (177 N. Ada St., West Loop, 773-913-3774), the casual tavern half on the first floor of dual-concept Smyth & the Loyalist, is now serving elevated bar fare and seasonal cocktails. Expect the tasting-menu Smyth to follow this fall.

From Kickstarter campaign to coffee shop, Damn Fine Coffee Bar (3317 W. Armitage Ave., 773-904-7051) brings espressos and drip and pourover coffee from Halfwit Coffee Roasters to Logan Square.


Four local spots got some love in Bon Appétit’s list of the 50 best new restaurants around the country: next-gen steak spot Boeufhaus, pasta temple Monteverde, British-Indian mashup Pub Royale, and Grant Achatz’s latest, Roister. In a few weeks, the list will be cut down to just 10 places from across the country, but for now, congrats to the honorees.
