Openings

Open now: Chef’s Burger Bistro (164 E. Grand Ave., River North, 312-374-3092) has both gourmet burgers and doughnuts every morning.

Friday, January 31: Shop ‘til you drop down in a seat at Sophie's, the new restaurant on the seventh floor of the flagship Saks Fifth Avenue store (700 N. Michigan Ave., Streeterville, 312-944-6500), where the menu will feature old-school American classics like crab cakes and Cobb salads.

Saturday, February 1: Kinmont (419 W. Superior St., River North, 312-915-0011) will be unleashing its rough fish—that is, infrequently eaten species, plus overlooked Midwestern freshwater seafood such as rainbow trout—from the kitchen of Duncan Biddulph (Lula Cafe, Rootstock).

Morsels

After an early-morning fire last week, the months-old Juno (2638 N. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln Park) is closed until further notice. According to a note on their Facebook page, nobody was injured in the blaze, and most of the damage was centralized in the front of the restaurant and the apartments above it.

The pizza at Piece (1927 W. North Ave., Bucktown, 773-772-4422) and the chicken at Honey Butter Fried Chicken (3361 N. Elston Ave., Avondale, 773-478-4000) are tasty enough on their own. Hopefully they’re better together on a mashup pizza, available at Piece starting Saturday for a limited time. The pie has red sauce, mozzarella, smoked paprika, and Honey Butter’s signature crisp-skinned poultry. A dollar from each pie sold goes to culinary-education charity Pilot Light.

Ruxbin (851 N. Ashland Ave., West Town, 312-624-8509) is now taking reservations, but the policy comes with some caveats. As early as 30 days in advance, you can book a table, but you only have until a week before your reservation to cancel or change it. After that, cancelled reservations incur a $25-per-person fee. Plan wisely.

So, we’ve got you covered for game-watch parties on Super Bowl Sunday, but if you’d rather have a quiet night in, try one of these places offering carry-out or catering options before kick-off: County BBQ (1352 W. Taylor St., Little Italy, 312-929-2528), the aforementioned Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Takito Kitchen (2013 W. Division St., Wicker Park, 773-687-9620), Bub City (435 N. Clark St., River North, 312-610-4200), or Chop Shop (2033 W. North Ave., Wicker Park, 773-537-4440).

Starting Sunday, Links Taproom (1559 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wicker Park, 773-360-7692) will be serving brunch, making it Wicker Park’s only place to get both a beer and a Fat Man in a Bath Tub (breakfast sausage fried in waffle batter with maple syrup, of course.)
