Openings

Open now: We may not know if the city will be home to President Obama’s library yet, but we do now have his burger—the first Chicago location of D.C.-based Good Stuff Eatery (22 S. Wabash, Loop, 312-854-3027) is open and serving their Prez Obama Burger (bacon, onion marmalade, Roquefort, horseradish mayo) and Michelle Melt (a turkey burger with swiss, caramelized onions, and herbed mayo) in the First Family’s hometown.

Open now: Set sail for Boystown, where the brand-new spot Dive Bar (3445 N. Halsted St.) is taking its name very literally, with an nautical-themed interior and lots and lots of rum.

Morsels

There’s gonna be a lot of Chicago love at this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards. Not only will the awards themselves be in the city (at the Lyric Opera) on May 4, restaurateur Rich Melman will be receiving a lifetime achievement award for his work with Lettuce Entertain You.

Some movement in West Town: Chef Tom Van Lente is out of the kitchen at Two (1132 W. Grand Ave., 312-624-8363) as of this past weekend. Taking over for him is current chef de cuisine Kevin Cuddihee, who’s been with the restaurant since it opened. No word yet on Van Lente’s next move.

And in more chef change news, Phil Rubino will step in as chef de cuisine at Dusek’s (1227 W. 18th St., Pilsen, 312-526-3851). Rubino’s done stints at kitchens all over town, including Bin 36 and Moderno, but he was last seen at the ill-fated Streeterville spot Cicchetti.
