The buttered coffee movement is upon us—on Friday, we taste-tested the Bulletproof Coffee at Beatrix, which mixes a pourover brew with unsalted butter and coconut oil. And now, starting today, the Ugly Mug Café (1458 W. Chicago Ave., West Town, 312-666-7707) launches their own version of the health drink, a 16-ounce mix with added agave and cinnamon for $4.

In honor of National Hot Dog Month, which starts today, Clark St. Dog (3040 N. Clark St., Wrigleyville, 773-281-6690) is adding the special Mac Daddy dog to their menu, which is your standard Vienna Beef hot dog covered in (what else?) macaroni and cheese. It’s like America on a bun, and it costs $4.29.

Thursday, July 3

Don’t drink on an empty stomach. Rhine Hall (2010 W. Fulton St., West Town, 312-243-4313) will host Pleasant House Bakery in their taproom from 5:30-7:30 p.m., which means pies and brandy Old Fashioneds all evening.

Friday, July 4

Takito Kitchen (2013 W. Division St., Wicker Park, 773-687-9620) is putting the whole “the U.S. is a melting pot” concept to the test with their weekend-long special of fried chicken tacos with a glass of rosé or a split of sparkling wine for $20.

Saturday, July 5

Perhaps soothe a post-Fourth hangover with a kegs and eggs brunch menu at Bottlefork (441 N. Clark St., River North, 312-955-1900) featuring beer from Begyle Brewing and some all-American brunch items: doughnut holes and Spam benedicts, among others.
