June 10, 2010 – The Chicago Architecture Foundation kicked off its new home design series with At Home: British Invasion. Attendees got caught up on current design trends from the famed Fab Seven— Britain’s top interior designers. Members of the British Interior Design Group also shared stories of celebrity clients and fielded design challenges from the audience. At Home is a year-long program series that guides and inspires people to make the best choices in the design and care of their homes.
June 18, 2010 — Chicago magazine and the Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital celebrated Chicago magazine’s 20 most eligible singles in Chicago with the 10th annual Summer Lovin’ event. Over 1,000 guests gathered to enjoy an evening complete with tasty hors d’oeuvres from 13 of the city’s hottest restaurants, an array of signature cocktails, a silent auction, a Hawaiian vacation raffle, a photo booth, green carpet, dancing, and much more. All proceeds from the 2010 event benefitted the research and treatment of brain tumors at the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute. June 10, 2010 – Italian furniture manufacturer Maxalto showcased its newest designs from Milan Design Week 2010 at an in-store hosted by Chicago Home + Garden editor Jan Parr and senior editor Barri Leiner Grant. Guests learned about Maxalto’s new line, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Chef Koren Grieveson of Avec, and sipped on drinks from mixologist Benjamin Schiller.
April 24, 2010 – More than 760 guests gathered at Brookfield Zoo for the 29th annual Whirl fund-raising gala hosted by the Women’s Board of the Chicago Zoological Society. The $600-per-person black-tie event raised nearly $1.3 million, which will benefit the animals at the zoo, as well as the Society’s conservation and education programs. This year’s Whirl, themed A Whirl in the Wilderness, celebrated the zoo’s new exhibit—Great Bear Wilderness—and was chaired by Vicki DeMar of Winnetka.
May 13 – May 30, 2010 – Greenspire Properties and Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana came together to present the 2010 Home of Distinction. This luxury, LEED-registered, green home showcased the latest building products and design trends with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
The 5,200-square-foot Home of Distinction was constructed by Greenspire Properties and designed by Mandy Brown Architects PC.
Several events were held at the home, including a meet and greet with Chicago Bear’s tight end, Greg Olsen, a Ronald McDonald brunch, and several green seminars.
We all turn to the usual sources for potential dates: bars, Match.com, Jdate, bars, CTA platforms, the produce section at Whole Foods, bars, the elevator at work. But when all these fail (as they so often do), why not just pick someone you like from the pages of a magazine, then place yourself directly in the path of true love at a charity cocktail party where his or her attendance is guaranteed? Seems like a solid strategy to me…
May 20, 2010 – PAWS Chicago’s 8th Annual Beach Party’s presenting sponsor, Associated Publications, hosted a fabulous launch party at the Ritz Carlton on Thursday, May 20th. Nearly 150 guests enjoyed beachy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and had the opportunity to meet two PAWS Chicago pups available for adoption – Porky and Jack. Other major event sponsors are North Community Bank and Mercedes-Benz of Chicago.

May 7, 2010 – On May 7th, home lovers came out for the annual Hinsdale Cooks! Kitchen Walk, which featured five fabulous, private kitchens from the community. Local chefs including Paul Virant of Vie, Didier Durand of Cyrano’s Bistrot, Branko Palikuca of Topaz, and Adam Seger, founder and mixologist of Hum Spirits, provided food, drink, and entertainment at the event. Proceeds benefitted the Hinsdale Historical Society. For more than thirty years, the Hinsdale Historical Society has been devoted to collecting, preserving, and promoting the history of Hinsdale.
