Come here for a before-dinner drink—it is, after all, a cocktail den from Violet Hour vets Robert Haynes and Henry Prendergast in the hot nabe of Logan Square. Then stay for a meal. You’d never guess it, but the slick bar is home to some of the best Cajun food in the city. That’s thanks to New Orleans native Alfredo Nogueira, a former Big Star bartender who hadn’t set foot in a kitchen before joining seasonal pop-up Flipside Café in 2012. After a brief stint at Rootstock, he was tapped to do whatever he wanted in Analogue’s kitchen. Turns out, his smoky gumbo, flaky buttermilk biscuits smeared with pepper jelly, and gravy-drenched mushroom po’ boy pair superbly with creative cocktails.
