Winnetka —Any city shopper who thinks the North Shore is a schlep should consider this: Kelly Golden, owner of the luxury boutique Neapolitan Collection, travels to Europe with her team about eight times a year. “And then we’re in New York pretty much every month,” she adds. During their trips, the buyers scope runways and fashion markets for everything from shoes to jewelry to ready-to-wear fashion from designers such as Giambattista Valli, Christian Dior, and Andrew Gn. “Some people think we just sell gowns and Dior, but we do have denim and T-shirts and bathing suits,” Golden says. Not to mention appearances by world-renowned designers. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Donna Karan, and Tory Burch are among the fashion pros who have stopped by for in-store shopping events and intimate dinners with longtime customers at Golden’s home. You never know who will show up to those gatherings: Perfumer Eric Buterbaugh once brought pal Demi Moore. Worth the schlep indeed.
