This pizzeria, with locations in Lake View and Wicker Park, usually churns out thin-crust pies with inventive toppings, but at the start of the pandemic, owner Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau realized he could use his pizza ovens to melt and mold acrylic to make medical-grade face shields. By the start of July, the Wicker Park location had produced more than 1,600, which were donated to front-line workers around the country.
