When the pandemic hit, Cheslik, then the wine director at the critically acclaimed West Loop restaurant Elske, dug out her nursing license and went back to the profession she'd left two and a half years earlier, pulling several overnights a week on the cardiac floor at St. Bernard Hospital in Englewood, providing relief to staff members overburdened by COVID-19 patients. “When I saw what was happening, I felt like I had no choice,” Cheslik says.
