This spring, a whole lot of Black women were suddenly looking at their hair in the mirror and wondering, How the heck am I going to do my own twist-out? Enter Adodo Délali Robinson, the owner of Chéz Délali in Matteson, whose hair designs have been in literal works of art by photographer Sandro. She heard the call from her regulars and took to IGTV and Facebook Live to give tutorials on things like doing a crochet hairstyle. Robinson’s relatively simple methods — you don’t even have to know how to braid — and calm, soothing voice make a daunting task downright meditative.
